As part of the project “Applying Artificial Intelligence in Quality Assurance of Community Service Management at Lac Hong University” the development of a centralized data dashboard represents a strategic shift from fragmented data handling to an integrated, insight-driven management approach. While the AI chatbot focuses on improving access to information, the dashboard addresses a different but equally critical dimension: transforming data into meaningful intelligence for monitoring and decision-making.
Before the project was initiated, data on community engagement activities existed in silos across various units. Differences in formats, measurement methods, and reporting practices made it challenging to build a coherent institutional picture. As a result, tracking progress, evaluating effectiveness, or identifying trends over time required significant manual effort and often lacked consistency. These limitations not only reduced operational efficiency but also constrained the university’s ability to fully leverage data in its quality assurance processes.
The dashboard was designed to respond directly to these challenges by establishing a single source of truth for community engagement data. A foundational step in this process was the standardization of the data repository, where datasets were systematically reviewed, cleaned, and aligned with a unified structure. This effort ensured that the information feeding into the dashboard is reliable, comparable, and suitable for long-term analysis.
Built on this standardized foundation, the dashboard provides a dynamic and interactive environment where users can explore key indicators of community engagement activities. Rather than static reports, the system offers real-time updates and visual representations that make complex data easier to interpret. Users can observe performance trends across different periods, compare planned targets with actual outcomes, and examine variations across activity types or units. This shift from descriptive reporting to analytical visualization enables a deeper understanding of how community engagement is evolving within the institution.
One of the notable contributions of the dashboard lies in its ability to support the PDCA (Plan–Do–Check–Act) cycle. By making data continuously available and transparent, it allows stakeholders to monitor implementation, evaluate results, and adjust strategies in a timely manner. In this way, the dashboard is not merely a reporting tool, but an active component of the university’s quality assurance ecosystem.
The system is currently accessible at:
Looking forward, the dashboard will continue to evolve in both scope and functionality. Future development will focus on incorporating more comprehensive indicators that capture not only outputs but also outcomes and long-term impact. The integration of survey data and advanced analytics is expected to further enhance the system’s capacity for evaluation and forecasting. In parallel, efforts will be made to embed the dashboard more deeply into institutional workflows, ensuring its role as a central tool in planning, monitoring, and reporting.
Through the development of this dashboard, Lac Hong University is taking a significant step toward a more data-informed model of governance. By turning dispersed data into structured insights, the project reinforces the university’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in community engagement.
